Imagine a piece of fine art with some of your personal, meaningful papers collaged into it—personalized art containing papers you provide.

Helen Gwinn accepts commissions to create images using papers and memorabilia furnished by the client. In the creative process papers sometimes get so integrated into the painting that they are barely recognizable. Yet, everything included in a painting impacts the final expressive quality of the work!

“Come…” (watermedia/collage, 21X29 inches)

“Come” has musical score that was commissioned by the client in memory of a family member. The piece also contains passages of scripture, published scientific text and diagrams, a newspaper clipping, and poetry, all furnished by the client. The total cost of $900 included postage, framing, and applicable tax.

“Sunflower Jazz” (watermedia/collage on cradled panel, 24X12X2 inches)

Embedded in “Sunflower Jazz” are a clipping of musical score, a passage from sacred text, postage stamps, a fragment of a map, some handwriting from a journal, joss paper, and treated leaf skeletons.

Sun Grace Series by Helen Gwinn

Sun Grace Series

One client asked for a series of small collages with no specific collage pieces specified or furnished.  “Sun Grace Series” was created in response to the commissioning. Each collage is 6X4 inches, matted and framed in a 10X8 mahogany frame.

The commissioning process includes:

  1. Discussion of expectations and the freedom of creativity.
  2. What will be included in the price:  Framing? Mailing? Documentation?
  3. Price….a non-refundable deposit is required (usually 20% of total price).
  4. Date….expected date of delivery and final payment.

Helen prefers to stay in touch with the client by email.
